Jayanthasri Balakrishnan is a former English professor and reader at PSG College of Arts and Science in Coimbatore with 35 years of experience. She holds two doctorates, one in English from Pondicherry University in 1998 and the other one in Tamil from Bharathiar University in 2009. She is also a graduate of the University of Madras with a degree in education. She is a Ph. D. registered guide at Bharathiar University for Tamil and English. Dr. Balakrishnan serves as a UGC resource person for several universities in India. She is a feminist, educator, writer, poet, and translator with a wide range of interests in literary theory, theatre, and theatre.
She has received praise for her unique educational perspectives from The Hindu in The Personality of the Week. She not only participates in several television programs but also hosts one called Manadhil urudhi vendum on Kalaignar TV. Her famous and notable works were Mazhaivil Manitharkal which is a collection of short stories, The Chain of Absolutes (A Translation of poet Sirpi Balasubramanaiam’s Poojyangalin Sangili and English Classical Edition of the Tail Classic Kuruntoki.
