Rose Venkatesan is a famous anchor, radio jockey and politician. She is the first transgender individual ever to host a television show. Her first show was in Vijay TV, a local channel in Tamil Nadu. The show was named ‘Ippadiku Rose’ and dealt with topics related to current affairs touching a wide variety of social issues including traditions, rebels and culture. Later she did a similar show in Kalaignar TV which was named as ‘Idhu Rose Neram’. She was also a radio jockey in Big FM 92.7. She has also made a film named ‘ cricket scandal’. She was born and raised up as a boy named Ramesh. She was aware of her feminity when she was very young and felt uncomfortable being boy.
She finished her schooling in Sri Ramakrishna Story Soon >> Read More... mission school in Chennai and studied mechanical engineering at Satyabama Engineering College. She was not able to tell about her feminine nature to anyone due to the issues in society. Later she travelled to the United States to study biomedical engineering at Lousiana University. It was from here she felt it as a need to let her family know that she was a transgender. Her family was devastated to know and even looked at marriage as a possible solution. Later they accepted it later once she came back from abroad. She is the first prominent Indian to have sex change surgery. Today she works as part-time communication trainer with one of the leading IT companies. She is also the founder of the Sexual Liberation Party, which aims at sensitizing people towards the plight of woman, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
