Karthik Shamalan is a Malaysian Tamil director was born on 8th November 1986. He has gained fame through his debut film Mella Thiranthatu Kathavu. He has further entrenched his honor by directing a Malaysian Tamil films such as Adai Mazhai Kaalam and The Farm: En Veetu Thottathil. He directed Kalyanaam 2 Kaathal, which has gained much more success. He was awarded as best director for the film Sughamaai Subbulakshmi in Norway Tamil Film Festival. He received Ulagam Award for the best script for Naran and popular series of the year Kalyanaam 2 Kaathal season1. He was awarded as best emerging director and best cinematography in Toronto Tamil Film Festival awards and Norway Tamil festival Awards respectively for Adai Mazhai Kaalam.
