Dr. Adam Greig, originally from St Andrew's in Scotland, attended Lancaster University in England to complete his undergraduate and graduate work before doing a Ph.D. research project on the piano music of French composer Germaine Tailleferre. Greig's research as a practicing musician and musicologist combines many forms of analytical inquiry with practical knowledge to better comprehend interpretation and artistic transmission. He has performed as a soloist and an accompanist at numerous international conferences, including the Royal Music Association Symposium Nostalgia and Innovation in Twentieth-Century French Music.
He specializes in performing early 20th-Century French repertoire, mainly centered around the "Les Six" composers (2008). Additionally, he has had the honor of playing two piano concertos with the Lancaster University Symphony Orchestra: the Piano Concerto No. 1 by Francis Poulenc and the Concerto pour piano et 12 instruments by Germain Tailleferre. At the LICA-Mantis Festival in Lancaster and the International Computer Music Conference in Belfast, Greig performed contemporary electro-acoustic music, including well-known pieces and world premieres. A. R. Rahman's renowned music conservatory in Chennai, India, has employed Greig as its academic coordinator since 2011. In this capacity, he guides a group of talented artists and musicologists in developing a distinctive curriculum that gives upcoming Indian musicians the education and preparation they require to succeed on a global stage. The Indian movie Maple Singam, released in March 2016, features Scottish actor Adam Greig in a supporting part as a foreigner.
