Veloor Krishnakutty was an Indian writer, remembered by the audience for his books and novels like Aanavaal, Angane Thanne, Aattavilakku, Election Ettooppu, etc. Also known for his predominant involvement in Mollywood movies and TV shows as a screenwriter, he has provided the readers with more than 150 pieces of writing and certainly helped in the upliftment of Malayalam literature.
Born on 19th September 1927, in Veloor, Kottayam, Kerela, he was the son of N.N. Kunjunni and Parvathi Amma. During his 20’s, he had to share his college life between CMS College Kottayam and M.D. Seminary, Kottayam. Krishnakutty was also a member of the advisory board of All India Radio and a senate member at the University of Cochin.
Over the years, many of Krishnakutty’s works were converted adapted into film projects, for which he wrote the screenplay and dialogues himself. Some of them are Masappady Mathupillai, Panchavadi Palam. Some of the notable awards that Krishnakutty won during his career are Kerela Sahitya Akademi Award, Ganaka Maha Sabha Award, Gurukshetra Samajam Award, Vocational Achievement Award, Kottayam Nagarsabha Sahithya Award, etc. In 2003, he lost his life due to renal problems at a private hospital on August 22. Before his death, he was happily married with a son and two daughters.
