Malayalam Writer M.N. Karassery

M.N. Karassery is a well-known Indian writer and also a social activist from Kerala. He is well known for his writing and lectures on politics, literature, art, and culture. He was born on 2nd July; 1951 in Karassery, a village which is 30 kilometers east of Kozhikode city. His father's name is Late N.C. Muhammed Haji and mother's name is Late K.C. Ayishakkutty. He has two brothers named Salam Nadukkandy who is a retired teacher, and Nadukkandy Aboobacker who is a retired journalist, and also Nadukkandy Ummayyakkutty as a sister who is a housewife. He completed his education at Issathul Islam A.U.O. School, which is now known as Haji N.C.Koyakutty Memorial. He also studied Quran for a short period. Then he took a degree in Sociology and Malayalam from Guruvayurappan College, Kozhikode. After that, he took a degree in Ph.D. in Malayalam in 1993.

When he was in his postgraduate days in Winners College, Kohinoor, he started doing part-time teaching in a tutorial college. When he bought a direct UGC research fellowship, he drops out of his job to turn into a full-time research scholar and started doing his Ph.D. He drops journalism to take up the place of a Junior Lecturer through P.Sc. selection and gets united with Government Arts and Science College, Kozhikode. He moves on to give a lecture in Government College Kodanchery, Government Evening College, Kozhikode in 1982-1984, later came back to Government Arts and Science College, Kozhikode in 1984-1986. In 1986, he merged with the Calicut University Malayalam Department as a lecturer, where he resigned from the post of Professor and Head after 26 years in March 2012. He was elaborated with Malayalam Cinema shortly, dawned as the Production Executive of Chuzhi in 1973 and the scriptwriter of Nizhale Nee Sakshi, produced by B. P. Moideen of Mukkam, which converted into an inadequate project. He has drafted the screenplay of the state and national award-winning documentary, "Nootaandinte Sakshi," which was established on the survival of the freedom fighter whose name is E. Moidu Maulavi. He has also designed and composed "Ezhuthaatha Kathakali", a documentary emanating from his book named Ummamarkkuvendi Oru Sankada Haraji which describes the dilemma of Muslim women, which won one of the Kerala State Award for the best documentary of the year.

M.N. Karassery is a regular existence on Malayalam TV as a member, in political debates, in the element of secular politics. He had been docked to the cultural program, "Samskara Kairali" from 2001 to 2002 on the Kairali TV channel. He also gave various talks on literary and social issues on the All-India Radio.
