Manka Mahesh is a famous Malayalam serial and cinema actress. She is stereotyped for playing mother roles. She is noted for the frustrated outbursts of her characters. She debuted in Sasi Shankar’s 1997 film Manthramothiram (Holy Ring) but her first prominent role was in the 1998 mega hit Punjabi House. Playing the role of Unnikrishan’s (Dileep) mother, she played the first of many motherly roles in her career. In 1999 her films were Ezhupunna Tharakan, Independence (another historical film), and Pranaya Nilavu (Twilight of Love). Her biggest hit was in 2000‘s mega success Thenkasipattanam. Releasing in December 2000, the Meccartin directed film was a mega success.
She acted in Jeevan Mashai and One-Man Show in 2001. In the next year, her projects include Kuberan and Pranyamanithooval. She played Amu’s mother in Thilakkam (2003). In Mohanlal’s comedy film Vamanapuram Bus Route, she played Ambujam. Deepangal Sakshi, Kottaram Vaidyan and Wanted were her other releases that year.
In 2005 she acted in 2 critically acclaimed films : Rappakal with Mammootty, and Thanmathra with Mohanlal. She played boisterous, negative characters. In Lollipop she played Rosabella's mother. Magic Lamp and Thavalam were also released that year. In 2009 she acted again with Prithviraj in Pudhiya Mugam (New Face). She played the role of Anjana’s (Priyamani) mother. In 2010, she acted in Three Char Sau Bees, which despite its Hindi title is a Malayalam film directed by Adoor Govindankutty.
Her upcoming projects in 2015 include Ellam Chettante Ishtam Pole (Everything is upto You, Brother).
