Besides Malayalam, she has recorded songs in many Indian languages ​​including Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.  After being trained in Carnatic Classical music and the ancient Western style of Violin, she has performed at concerts and stage shows around the world.

She work as a  Professor at Malabar Medical College and Drs. Lakshmi S, Associate Professor of Gynecology at Calicut Medical College. she learned the basics of Carnatic Music from his grandmother Kamala Subrahmaniam, a former All India Radio artist and continued his education and training under Geeta Devi Vasudevan and Madurai Rajaram after moving to Chennai. Coming from a music-loving family, Kavya started at Western Violin at a young age and received guidance and training from Albert Vijayan Japheth.

she completed her Higher Secondary School in Silver Hills Public School in Kozhikode. She got her (B.E) Engineering degree from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetam, Coimbatore, worked at Cognizant Technology Solutions before retiring to pursue a career in music.  sHe is married to Vidhyasagar Venkatesan and currently lives in Chennai.

Kavya entered the music scene in 2014 with a love song by Ranjan Pramod Rose Guitarinaal. The film's composer Shahbaz Aman, who was looking for a new voice, loved her own and gave him the song Engum Nalla Pookkal which was her first success.  This was followed by a series of songs sung by Shaan Rahman Shaan Rahman is a widely recognized personality in >> Read More... from the films Praise the Lord. she next appeared in Lavender, created by Deepak Dev where he performed two film tracks. The song was complimented by Dev's combination of western music and old world lyrics.

she started playing in the Tamil film music industry with the song Hey Umayaal for the Urumeen film by Achu Rajamani.

In 2017, she borrowed songs from Gopi Sundar's Cherukkanum Pennum for Omar's second film Chunkzz  followed by Agnijwalaa from Bollywood's film Mama of A.R Rahman's Malayalam audio album.

Kavya has performed at numerous Carnatic, Western Vocal and Violin gigs and has shared the stage with various artists.
