He is a Malayalam film producer, distributor, and business man. He has his production house by the name of "Mulakuppadam Films" and head office situated in Kochi, Kerala. He came in front of the public eye with movie Pulimurugan(2016) from his own production house and became first to occur in "100 crore club" and "150 crore club". He also won Asianet Film Award for Most Popular Film for Pulimurugan (2016). His fascination towards movies paved his way to Malayalam film industry. He produced his first film entitled Flash(2007), a psychological thriller starring Parvathy and Mohanlal and directed by Sibi Malayil.
Though this movie couldn’t perform well at box office. In 2010, Mammootty and
directed by Vysakh get released and became a commercial success and highest earning movie of the year. It is an action movie starring Mammootty along with Prithviraj and
in supporting roles. 2016, he produced another movie named Pulimurugan an action adventure movie directed by Vysakh, starring Mohanlal. The overall budget of this film was about ₹25 crores, hence became the most expensive movie and highest grossing movie of that time as mentioned above.
Tomichan Mulakuppadam is married to Rosakutty and has three children together- Two boys Romin, Roshan and one daughter Risha. His son Romin has also appeared in one of his movies named Pulimurugan(2016). Romin played the young role of Pulimurugan’s uncle Lal’s character. He is living with his family and is doing business in Abu Dhabi. Recently, he grabbed limelight for his 25th wedding anniversary celebration in November 2016. In 2017 he is releasing a new movie Ramaleela by his own production house.
It is a political thriller film written by Sachy and directed by debutante Arun Gopy and Dileep in the lead. Dileep is playing a character of name Ramanunni who becomes a politician. The whole plot based on corruption and politics. His other movies from his production houses are Four Friends(2010) and Kunjaliyan(2012). Apart from production, Mulakuppadam Films also distributed Minnaminnikoottam (2008), Lollipop (2008) and Vellathooval (2009).
