OG Sunil

OG Sunil is a film producer and a businessman. He is an very popular businessman and film producer. He has been successful in all business fields. He belongs to an aristocratic agrarian family from Panangad, Cochin. OG Sunil is the son of late Sri Gopinatha Menon who was a highly respected stalwart in his time. OG Sunil’s friend addresses him as OG.

OG studied in the school Rajagiri Public School, Kalamassery. He completed his graduation from St. Alberts College. In 1979, he took professional training for racing in Silverstone, London. After returning to India’s Scissors Action rally Team ,which is India’s first rally team.

One of his important wins was Safdarjung Airport Rally. He retired in 2002 after racing for Coca-Cola. OG represented Federation Motors Club and MAI. He also took part in Perth and, Africa rally. Sunil loves sports, and he has played handball in Kerala’s State Team and basketball in Kerala’s Junior State Team.

He also loves football and has a football academy in Panangad, Kochi where local youths are trained to bring the best out of them. OG entered business in 1990 as OG & Co. In 1995, OG entered the real estate business and launched the project’ Link Horizon’ apartment in Marine Drive, Kochi. In 2002, he entered into the  IT sector in hardware and software in Bangalore.

The liberalization made him realize that there is a great opportunity in foreign direct investment so he opened a consultancy firm for foreign companies who were searching for investing money in India’s real estate business. Meanwhile, tourism appeared to be a leading industry in Kerala.

So, OG decided to enter the tourism industry. He opened a beach resort at Marari Beach, Alleppey, a three-star hotel in Central Kerala, and a heritage resort on the backwaters of  Kochi. OG Sunil is the Chairman of Fashion Federation of Kerala from 2009 which works for the betterment of weavers in Kerala.

OG Sunil also has a school for underprivileged children where  95% students get education for free. Almost, 2500 students attend school, and this year it celebrates its 90^th year of foundation. The school is close to OG Sunil’s heart.

He is the manager of the committee of Cochin Chamber of Commerce for 12 years. OG is the trustee of Cochin Port Trust. OG Sunil, aka Ollaril Gopinatha Sunil was born to Gopinatha Menon and Leela Menon. Gopinatha Menon and Leela Menon ran an English Medium school in Ollaril, Panangad in Kerala. It was the first English Medium School in their Panchayat. They also had an ancestral property, and they cultivated fish along with growing trees in their backyard. The ancestral home of Sunil acted as a cultural outlet for many curators, academicians, and artists. Sunil has now converted his ancestral home, Tharavadu, into a tourist-stay place. Sunil is married to Asha, who partners with him in his ventures.

In 2023, OG produced a Malayalam short film, Kubra. The short film was written and directed by Raakesh B Menon. Sreekanth cranked the camera, and Dilip Dennis edited the film.
