Ashok Nelson

Ashok Nelson, born and brought up in Kerala, is a leading guitarist, songwriter, music director, music composer, and music producer. He is a co-founder of the band Thaikkudam Bridge, where he is a rhythm guitarist. Ashok is the son of MA Baby, an MLA from the Kundara constituency of Kerala, and a member of the Communist Party of India. Ashok is lovingly called Appu. Initially, he studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya Gol Market in Delhi for nine years. Here, he started learning to play the Mridangam from Sri Prem Kumar.

It was during his college years that he started playing the guitar, which gradually became his passion. He was a music enthusiast and represented his universities in competitions at zonal and national levels. He also won a silver medal as a guitarist at the zonal level.

Ashok dreamt of pursuing a career in music, so he left for Chennai after his graduation. There he got an opportunity to work as an assistant for renowned music director M. Jayachandran. He assisted him for four years. He is a talented artist and has given background music in various movies and songs for music directors like Ousepachan, Rajmai, Rex Band, and Srinivas.

He has also made jingles for Kairali TV, Manorama, McDowells, and Allen Solly. Ashok has more than ten years of experience as a Music Producer and Composer. He started his career by working as a Sound Engineer for Muzik Lounge, where he worked for three years and left the job. Since then, he has been working independently as a freelance Music Director and Guitarist.

Thaikkudam Bridge fame Ashok Nelson has been traveling to Vienna, Switzerland, Munich, and many other overseas countries for their shows since their successful launch in 2013. The band’s first album named Namah was released in September 2019. Ashok married Sanidha Antony on 22 September, 2015. He also has a son named Tanay Ashok, who was born in 2016.
