Rajshri Ponappa is a South Indian actress. She primarily works on Malayalam and Kannada films. She initially worked as a radio jockey before coming to the tele-world. Rajshri was born and brought up in Bangalore. Her parents, MM Ponappa and Jyothi MP, are from Kerala. She currently has a house in Mumbai where occasionally lives. Rajshri began her career as a model but she also wanted to be radio jockey. She auditioned for RJ on a TV Channel where she also got selected to perform in a dance show. She was also a cinematographer and director in her college days and has directed a few documentaries.

Rajshri became the face of the Zee Kannada TV Channel. After seeing her photograph, various producers were mesmerized and finally her career as an actress kick-started with the 2013 drama film Pithavinum Puthranam Parishudhatmvinum (Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit). Going the unconventional way, she appeared as a troubled nun in this movie. Although supporting in nature, her brave act overwhelmed the critics. Track & Trolly Production, who eventually signed her to a three-film deal, produced the film.
Rajshri appeared on the cover of Outlook Magazine in 2013. Next year she appeared in yet another women-centric drama named Aram (2014). Her de-glamourous avatar again generated rave reviews. However, what turned critics’ heads was her superb twist in the pivotal role in Vasundhara (2014). National award-winning director, T. S. Nagabharana, directed that movie. In 2015, she started in the action-comedy, Rocket, which made her heartthrob of many boys. After that, she played the role of a village girl in the 2016 action-comedy, Mental Police, opposite Shrikanth.
