Vijay Menon is an eminent Malayalam actor. He acted in more than 100 South Indian films and mainly appeared in character and supporting roles. Vijay was born in Ottapalam in Kerala to Sudhakara Menon and Lakshmi. He studied at Lawrence School Lovedale in Ooty and later attended Film and Television Institute of India in Pune, where he took film direction. After this, he went to ace director Bharathan, with a hope of becoming his Assistant Director. However, Bharathan is looking for someone to cast in his new film entitled Nidra and after seeing Vijay’s talent in acting, he bags a role in the film. Nidra became a blockbuster, and he was noted for his outstanding performance. Vijay also wrote for The Indian Express daily newspaper in the International Politics section. . Besides acting, Vijay is also a known dubbing artist. He dubs for Rajeev in films like F. I. R in 1999 and Collector in 2011. He also dubs for
in Teja Bhai & Family and in the courtroom drama film, Melvilasom, where he earned the Kerala State Film Award for Best Dubbing Artist in 2011.
Recently, he dubbed for K.C. Shankar and
in Samrajyam II: Son of Alexander and Laila O Laila respectively.
He directed, penned the story and dialogues of the 1986 Malayalam films, Nilaavinte Naattil, which stars Prem Nazir and
and Pranayaaksharangal in 2001. Vijay is also the co-editor of Nilaavinte Naattil. Aside from acting on the silver screen, he was cast in Surya TV’s television serials such as Makal, Pattusari and Aalippazham. Vijay is married to Kala, and they have two children namely Malavika and Nikhil.
