The late Achankunju is a legend in the film industry who acted mainly as a villain in Malayalam movies. Achankunju was born in 1930 and his legendary life ended at the age of 57 in 1987. His career started off in 1980’s at the age of 49 and up to his retirement from the film industry he had acted in over 50 films in Malayalam. He debuted in the movie industry with the award winning film ‘Lorry’ which won him the best actor award at the Kerala state film awards. He was guided into the film industry under the guidance of actor and producer Prem Prakash Raju who is from Century films and Joy Thomas of Jubilee films.
Since his debut, he has performed in 46 films of distinguished directors such as Bharathan, Padmarajan and I V Sasi. Before he joined the film industry he was a talented performer in the theatre industry. He had acted in several roles in the plays by KPAC and Kerala theatres. He had made note-worthy contributions in films such as Parankimala, Chaatta, Thinkalaazhcha Nalla Divasam and Yathra. He has left a legacy in the industry that will be remembered for years to come. His legacy should be marked and remembered by all since he left a mark in the industry.
