Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri

Kaithpram Damodaran Namboothiri is a famous Malayalam Lyrist, Actor, Singer, Writer and Music Director. Born on January 1^st, 1950 in village Kaithpram, he is also a famous performer of Carnatic music. His father is Keshavan Namboothiri who is widely known as Kannadi Bhagavatar, known as the disciple of Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar. His mother is Anjali Antharjanam. His preferred language of performance remains to be Malayalam. He has completed music and acting at the school of Natyagruha. His kids are Deepankuran and Devadarshan. Deepankuran has also sung for Desadanam and many more songs for various films.

One of his first ventures as a lyricist was "Devadundubhi Sandralayam” which came out in the movie Ennennum Kannettante. He has said to have written lyrics for more than 300 films. His acting ventures included acting in films like Aaryan, Swathi Thirunal and much more. The interesting part is that in most of these ventures he has played the role of either a singer who is classically trained or a semi-classical singer.

His first film as a music composer was Desadanam which came out to be a huge success and was widely acclaimed. His books of poetry and prose are loved and appreciated. His songs are usually about love and deeply set emotions which appeal to people. He has also performed in many concerts and shows. Also known as a legend, he has won many national awards.

He is currently the Managing Trustee of Swathi Thirunal Kala Kendram which is a famous music school situated at Kozhikode. He is also known to be a Music Therapist as he says music can give you so many natural therapies and takes many such sessions in the entire  Kerala.He has won Asianet awards and also Kerala State Government Awards.
