Yadu Vijayakrishnan

Yadu Vijayakrishnan is a Malayalam director, writer and cinematographer. He was born on 24th January 1993 in Thiruvananthapuram, India, to the famous Malayalam critic and director, Vijayakrishnan. His mother is Asha S.P. We know his father from his well-known books such as Chalacheetra Sameeksha, Chalachitrathinte Porul, Marunna Prathichhayakal, Karuppun Veluppum Varnangalum, etc. He was also Kerala State Film Award Committee and National Award Committee member. He is an ICBFC (Indian Central Board for Film Certification) member at present. He is one of the most famous film historians in the Indian subcontinent.

Yadu owns Pantheon, a production company. He started his career with ‘Cobweb’, a short film released in the year 2009. He was not only the director and producer of the short film but also the screenwriter, editor, and cinematographer. In the same year, he released another short film. In 2010, he released yet another short film which was titled ‘Starting Trouble’. He was the screenwriter and director of the movie. ‘25th Hour’ was released in 2011. It was a short film directed by Yadu.

He was the scriptwriter, film editor as well as the cinematographer of the short film. In 2012, he released his 5th short film called ‘29.2.XI’. He directed as well as produced this film. He was also the screenwriter of his 5th film, 29.2.XI. In the same year, he released his 6th short film which was titled ‘The Touch of Nature’. It was directed and produced by him. He also did the cinematography and screenwriting for this short film. In 2013, he did the cinematography of a short film which was titled ‘Feio, Eu?’. The film was directed and written by Helena Ignez. It was a 60-minute long German documentary/drama film. ‘Feio, Eu?’ means ‘Ugly, Me?’ in German.

The film showed different locations like La Pa, Rio De Janeiro, Paris, and Kerala. It was a compilation of different actors’ workshop called Characters in Search of a Movie. Yadu was the cinematographer of the movie along with Mario Cascardo, Eurydice Da Silva, Diogo Cavour, Vitor Kruter, Helene Truong Hung-Quang, and Eduardo Raccah. In 2016, Yadu directed a movie ‘Nelumbo’. He was also the writer of the movie along with Jitto Sony. He was the cinematographer of the movie as well. The cast of the movie included Abhimanue, Vinayan G and Madhu. In 2017, he did the cinematography of a movie called ‘Osyath’ which was written by his father, Vijayakrishnan.
