Rajive Vijay Raghvan was born on 29 May, 1958 in Kottayam, Kerala, Southwestern India. His mother's name is Mrs. Remani Nair and, his father's name is Mr. K. Ramarajan Nair is well known as a well-skilled and talented Mollywood Director. His Debut film was Margam which gained a lot of global recognition and praise. Apart from, filmmaking he also works for making documentaries. Rajiv was a student of the Film and TV Institute of Pune.
Apart from directing the films, Rajiv also loves to write scripts and produce various projects. Rajiv’s debut film as a director Margam was about the story of M. Sukumaran. The film was a big hit and got so many awards. It won 7 major Kerala State Awards and the National Film Award from the government of India in 2003. Margam is one of the Malayalam films which received worldwide success in the short run. It was considered something unique. It won 6 international awards in the category of script and film.
Rajiv has assisted the director G. Aravindan in six feature films during 1981-91. He directed many short films and documentaries such as Sister Alphonsa of Bharananganam (1987), Kesari (1992), People Matter-Women’s rights in India (1988), Seeds of Malabar (1996), Ruin of the Commons (1993), Building the Bridge - a story of Gender equity, 2000, and much more.
One of the documentaries Sister Alphonsa of Bharananganam is Vijay’s famous documentary. Sister Alphonsa of Bharananganam is about a nun from Kerala who has been declared the first Catholic Saint from India in the year 2009. Sister Alphonsa was much famous among Christian Community in Kerala. This movie got screened during the holy event of the Rome declaration ceremony. Rajiv is married to Dr. Miek and has two kids Miny and Naomi.
