KV Sivaprasad

K V Sivaprasad is a South Indian Director who has worked in the Malayalam industry. He is known for his short film named Appoppanthadi which is the tale of long lost love. As a child, we all would have enjoyed playing with milkweed. Catching milkweed was considered as an achievement, and the victory gets celebrated by blowing the frail, beautiful seed away. According to K V Sivaprasad's belief, every milkweed that one gets hold of but unfortunately lets it go are the dreams dreamt by the person but left unfulfilled. The storyline of his short film Appoppanthadi is the connection of these shattered dreams to his long lost love. Although many love stories have hit the screens in theatres and short films, K V Sivaprasad's Appoppanthadi takes a different and emotional narration focusing on the bottled up emotions and memories and the distant hope of reaching one's love even after saying good bye.

Voicing his concept for the short film, the director says that even though we lose milkweed knowing that it will never return, we still wish for it to come back and feel sad the second we let it go. Likewise, we yearn for our lost love. In Appoppanthadi, K V Sivaprasadbrilliantly shows the recollections of the love through memories and the way we see it in a different point as we grow older. Appoppanthadi, the seemingly usual genre of romance short film, won numerous awards solely because of the way it was taken. It won 53 international and national awards. The young filmmaker won mostly for the category of Best Short film. Eight of these awards were received for Best Director by K V Sivaprasad. In the Dhaka International Film Festival, K V Sivaprasad's short film received a special mention by the jury. K V Sivaprasad did not plan a release in YouTube for his debut short film.

He feels that every movie has to be presented on various platforms based on the presentation and concept. He said that few movies are meant to be watched on in theatres and few only on computers or television. K V Sivaprasad was quite doubtful if his film will be received well by the audience since it lacks youthfulness while talking about love. This 26–minute short film might not be considered as a short film to some because of its length. But after many watched his movie, K V Sivaprasad was appreciated for his work, and he was advised to release it on YouTube to get a wider audience. He did a celebrity release to make it more popular.
