It was a critically acclaimed movie; it depicts the land struggles faced by Dalits of Kerala, although he had to face various challenges from Central Board of Film Certification in India soon after Papilio Buddha released,
despite all the struggles it won many Awards such as Kerala State Film Special Jury Award for best direction 2013 and Kerala Film Critics Association Award for Best Debut Director 2013 and Feature Narrative Award at Athens International Film and Video Festival 2013. His documentary "Shape of the Shapeless "received immense popularity, it represented the sensitive subject that the body is just a costume one owns and it does not recognize the boundaries,
it won the Silver Jury Prize at the San Francisco Short Film Festival 2010 and along with that received many Film Festivals. Ayodhanaththinte Achuthantu, Ayanam Vachana Rekhayil, Polymorphism, and Pachakku are the collection of poetry published by Jayan in Malayalam and have received various awards for that as well. Jayan has a diversified caliber in a different field and has earned lots of success and popularity with his eccentric piece of artwork.
