Ayodha Kumar Krishnamsetty is a Telugu film writer, producer, and director. He was born and raised in Visakhapatnam. He completed a degree in Marine Sciences at Andhra University before he went to the USA to work in a software field in 1999. But he was laid off after the 9/11 incident so instead of applying for a new job, he took a 4-year bachelor course in filmmaking at the Northwest Film Center in Portland, Oregon. After passing out from the film institute, he started working on short films and has done The New Scarf (2006) and I Am Not a Chair (2008). In 2009, he decided to work on mainstream cinema. He penned a romantic comedy film but his dream project is to work on a film about education.
He did some research until MVV Chowdary told him a storyline that occurs in a visually impaired school. He bought the script and work on it to become a full-fledged script. He visited renowned blind schools in Andhra Pradesh and made his own interviews. He even goes to Perkins School for the Blind in the US. In 2012, he has written, produced, and directed the Telugu social problem film, Minugurulu. The film received the Best Indian Film Award at the 9th India International Children’s Film Festival and became the very first Telugu film that was preserved at the permanent core collection of the Oscar Library. It also received seven state Nandi Awards including Best First Film of a Director and Best Film (Silver). Ayodha is one of the Board of Directors of the production house, Respect Creations, the banner who produced Minugurulu.
