KP Sunil is an Indian director who works predominately in the Malayalam film industry. He is best known for his movies such as MaanatheKottaram, PriyappettaKukku, and AlancherryThambrakkal. KP Sunil was born and brought up in Kozhikode, Kerala. He finished his higher education at St. Josephs's boys' high school, Kozhikode.
KP Sunil completed his graduation at the University of Calicut. He is married to Bindu Sunil. They have a son called Veda Sunil. KP Sunil started his film career with the movie PriyapettaKukku in 1992 that starred actor Jagadish in the lead. He became one of the busiest and sought-after directors of the Malayalam film industry during the 90s.
KP Sunil worked close to 10 films as director and story writer from 1992 - 2000. In the movie Vanarasena (1996), he worked in the story, screenplay, and dialogue department. He took a break from films and started living as a sannyasin for a while. KP Sunil calls that period as a life-changing one. He re-entered into the film industry in 2010 with the movie Thathwamasi. Lucky Jokers released in 2011 is the last film KP Sunil directed. It starred actors such as
KP Sunil turned as a producer with the movie TheneechayumPeerangippadayum (2018). Additionally, he wrote the screenplay of the movie. In the same year, he produced the film, Lolans which released on 23 March 2018 to unanimously positive reviews.
