Krishna Padmakumar is a child artist known for her role in the M.G. Sasi produced 2010 film, Janaki. She won the Kerala State Film Award in the “best child artist” category for the film. She played the role of Sita in the film.
She was born in 1998. Krishna Padmakumar is a student at St. Augustine's Girls Higher Secondary High School in Muvattupuzha, Ernakulam. She has two siblings, a younger brother, and a younger sister. It was only after arriving at the location for the filming of Janaki that she knew that her character was the main character. She played a 12-year-old orphan who is adopted by a senile Gandhian called Shekharan Master. He treats her like his grandchild, and she finds a sense of belonging in the loving environment of his family. After his death, however, she returns to her old ways and ends up back on the street.
She has said that she will do films in future only if the script is good enough. She thinks that her studies deserve greater importance than her cinema career.
Krishna Padmakumar is an avid dancer and has participated in school talent festivals, including at Muvattupuzha sub-district Youth Festival 2011, which was held in Valakom, Ernakulam. She says that her dream is to become a dance teacher.
