Babu Eshwar Prasad is an Indian painter, director, and producer born in 1968 in Karnataka. He did his under graduation in fine arts from the College of Fine Arts, Bangalore, in 1989 and then his master’s degree in printmaking from the Fine Arts Faculty of the MS University, Baroda, in 1992. He even won a national scholarship and got an opportunity to work under K. Laxman Goud, a well-known artist. Prasad’s paintings present a vivid imagery of the recollections of our mind, that is, a representation of the subliminal self. His art modifies landscapes as we know them, twisting and turning our perception of reality. Or rather, an alternate form of reality. His paintings usually are a combination of bright colors and also explore different perspectives. People seem to find a sense of familiarity in his creations though the paintings seem to be far from our reality.
Prasad has participated in group shows in India, including seven of the Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy’s shows from 1987 to 1993, four National Exhibitions in New Delhi from 1988 to 1991, two all-India exhibitions at the Chitra Kala Parishath in Bangalore, the 1988 AIFACS Exhibition in New Delhi, 1990 all India Drawing and Graphics Exhibition in Gulbarga and the 1993 Prints Today show at the Bangalore Alliance Franchise. His works were featured in the Vadhera art gallery, and one of his paintings was realized at 8905 USD at Saffronart Mumbai in 2006. He has directed and produced Galibeeja(wind seed), which was his debut film, and also some video films like Counterfeit, Looped, Fast Forward to Zero, Vortex, and Splice, which were screened at various film festivals in India and abroad.
