Mahesh Mahadev is a versatile and prominent Indian Musician, singer, songwriter, and composer. He is the son of Mahadevrao and Manjula Jadhav. He was born on 28th October 1981 in Bangalore, India. Mahesh is well known for inventing ragas in Hindustani and Carnatic Music. He is a multi-faceted artist and multilingual composer. Ragas created by him are used in his own musical compositions. Mahesh grew up with a passion for literature. To fulfill his passion, he completed his bachelor's in Fine Arts. Mahesh contributed a lot in expanding Hindustani and Carnatic Music. Mahesh's career began in 1998. Not only in Music, he has expertise in various other fields of art as well. He is an independent researcher. His research areas are music; Music composition, Music education, History of music and various forms of fine art.
He is a certified music educator and trainer and got certification from the 'The Royal School of Music, London. He is an award-winning artist. Mahesh invented raga Sri Thyagaraja for 176th Thyagaraja Aradhana Festival which held in Singapore. The raga is sung by singer Priyadarshini. He also composed songs in Sanskrit. Some of his popular Sanskrit songs are Maharudram Mahadeshwaram, Modak Priya Ganraj, and Sawan ke Badal. These songs are written by him. He has composed devotional songs. He composed a patriotic song for Television named Rajyostava. Mahesh has introduced more than 50 new ragas.
One of his raga 'Srirangapriya' is sung by famous Bollywood singer S.P Balsubramanyam. He used subtle gamakas at gandhara,nishada, panchama, as well as his compositions while making ragas. He has improvised compositions made by other musicians. He trained under Sadasudarsanam and Radhavajayan, both are famous music composers. They trained him in Western music. He also lent his voice to many songs. Mahesh has performed voice overs. He excels at 3D animation motion, graphic designing, and modern art realistic painting. Apart from singing and composing, he has directed multiple music videos. His compositions are complex and unique with modal shift of Tonic. He has written and composed Hindustani Classical Bandishes in his ragas. Mukthipradayini, an another raga created by him was presented at the 91st Annual conference & concert, Music Academy, Chennai. He has created another new raga Thyagaraja Mangalam named in the honour of Carnatic Vocalist T.M. Thyagarajan and Mangalam Shankar. Some of the famous ragas created by him are Srirangapriya, Bhimsen, Sri Skanda, Rajasadhaka, Mayakara, Ayonija, Binduroopini, Tapaswi, Meenakshipriya, etc. His ragas are pure derivatives of Indian Classical Music and have not found in any Indian repertoire of Classical Ragas.
He obeys the rule of Melakarta in the ragas of Hindustani Music and Thaat System in Carnatic. Throughout his journey, he has made significant contributions in music across multiple languages including, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Sanskrit, Marathi, Gujarati, Braj, Rajasthani, Japanese, Spanish, English, Malayalam, etc. Mahesh has provided lyrics for many songs. He wrote lyrics for the Kannada movie Jhansi IPS. He is a multilingual music composer. His command over many languages in music make him different from other musicians. Mahesh also worked in many industries. Some of them are signs, advertising, digital multimedia industries, music marketing, etc. Mahesh runs a music school 'Prims Foundation' located at MS Ramaiah University. His dedication to music makes him a valuable and respected personality.
