Prema is a famous South Indian Actress who was born on 6 January 1977 in Bangalore. She has acted in several Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam movies. She has acted with many top actors in the South namely Dr.Vishnuvardhan, Ravichandran, , Upendra, , Dr. Mohanlal. She has won the filmfare award twice in the year 1996 and 2001 for the kannada movies ‘’ and ‘Kanasugaara’ respectively. Apart from these awards, she has also won Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actress for the movie ‘Om’, Nandi Award for Best Actress for the Telugu movie ‘Devi’ and many prestigious awards for Best Actress such as Udaya Award, Screen Videocon Award, Cinema Express Award, Chitrapremigala Sangha Award and Devikarani Memorial Award.

Prema, who did her schooling in Mahila Seva Samaja High School and college in SSMRV College was good at sports such as Volley Ball and High Jump. Originally from Coorg, this pretty actress started her career in 1995 with the movie ‘’ in which she paired up with Shivarajkumar. She also acted in a movie with , younger brother of Shivarajkumar, named ‘Aata Hudugaata’ in the same year. Though these movies were not a major hit, she received another role as the lead in the movie ‘Om’ directed by the famous director Upendra. This movie was the biggest hit and Prema received many good reviews for her performance in the movie. After the success of this movie, she was very much in demand and many directors wanted to offer her the lead role in their movies.

She got married to Jeevan Appachu in 2006 as per the kodava customs and traditions. After marriage, she has acted only in a few movies. She does not seem to be interested in the regular roles that are being offered to her. She is looking for more creative roles and is very careful in choosing the same. She is one of the heroines who has always maintained her reputation and not got herself involved in any controversies. At present she is leading a happy married life with her husband.
