Lakshmi Chandrashekar is a well-known Indian Film Actress and a Professor of Literature. She belongs to Karnataka, India. Her major works are in Kannada. She is also a theater artist. Lakshmi completed her Post-graduation in English at the University of Mysore. Later she left for London, with her husband B.K. Chandrashekar and completed her Post-Graduation from the University of Leeds, UK.
Two years later, she returned to India, acted in a play directed by a British director named Peter Coe. The play revolves around an anti-emergency activist, Snehalatha Reddy. Lakshmi was willing to do social work, so she used her strength in theater. She completely engrossed herself in theater and simultaneously taught literature in NMKRV college, Karnataka.
Her plays left a mark in society and highlighted important social issues like violence and harassment of women, environmental degradation, etc. Lakshmi got the motivation of producing bilingual plays from a Malayalam troupe, who did their shows in Malayalam and Kannada. Inspired by them, Lakshmi started to translate her monologues in Kannada and English, as she was familiar with both languages. She has a lot of experience in the field and has contributed to more than 35 plays and 10 Kannada movies.
Singaravva Mattu Aramane, her drama was screened in national and international drama festivals and occasionally in universities and other recognized places, including conferences and meets discussing women's crucial issues.
