Veteran actress Gayathri Prabhakar is a renowned movie personality and dubbing artist in the Kannada industry. She has a vast experience in movie and radio field. She is the voice behind many celebrities whom we see in the cinema. Gayathri is married to M.V Prabhakar. Her daughter Anu Prabhakar born in 1980 is a famous Kannada actress. Anu is known for her acting in the movie ‘Shaap’ in 2000. She has been a part of few television shows also. Gayathri has a son named Vikram. Her sister ‘ Shashikala’ is also a popular dubbing artist in Kollywood.

Gayathri came into the industry in the late 1970s. She was initially a dubbing artist. She worked as a radio personality. Her voice has that influential factor which fetched her dubbing roles in many films. Her first film as a dubbing artist was ‘Praya Praya Praya’ in 1982. It was a youth based romantic movie starring ‘ Ramakrishna’. In the same year, she worked for ‘Hasyaratna Ramakrishna’. It was a comedy film based on the poet Tenali Ramakrishna. In 1984 she again dubbed for ‘Aasha Kirana’ meaning silver lining.

The saga continued and she worked for films such as ‘Parameshi Prem Prasang’, ‘Kumkuma Thanda Saubhagya’, ‘Kedi No.1’, ‘ Vijay’, ‘Ravana Rajya’, ‘Daivya Shakthi’, ‘Bhadrakali’, ‘Agni Kanye’, ‘Gudugu Sidilu’ and ‘ Yuga Purusha’. In the year 1988, she did her first feature film as an actress. It was ‘Sangliyana’. The film was a super hit. In the following years, she did many character roles and cameo in the movies. Those movies were ‘Mithileya Seetheyaru’ and ‘ Krishna Rukmini.’

In 1989 she did a cameo for ‘CBI Shankar’. She worked as a dubbing artist and actress for the film ‘Raja Kempu Roja’ in 1990. In the same year, she featured in a comedy film by H R Bhargava named ‘Chapala Chennigaraya.’ The following year she was the part of ‘Manglaya’ and ‘Golmaal Part 2’. The movie ‘Halli Mestru’ and Bhairavi’ were two of her notable contributions. The former is a comedy genre film. She has devoted a long career to this field. In the year 2000, she acted for ‘Love In Nepal’.

After this she mainly did dubbing. ‘Anjali Geethanjali’, ‘The City’, ‘Meshtru’, ‘ Vishnu’, ‘ Ajay’, ‘Ee Sanje’, ‘Nannedeya Hadu’ and ‘Arakshaka’ were some of her later vocals. Gayathri has over 1500 films to her credit. She was spotted at the Bengaluru Tree festival - Neeralu in 2014. Here she talked about the garden she maintains and the inherent significance of trees.

Tanishka Kapoor

Chirpy and gorgeous, Tanishka Kapoor, 22, is a young model-cum-actress. She was born on 15 April 1994 in Mumbai. Having her roots in Delhi, her family shifted to Mangaluru almost immediately after her birth. After spending sixteen years in Mangaluru, she moved to Bengaluru. The Punjabi lass can speak in Kannada quite fluently, but she says that staying in Bengaluru has changed her accent drastically. She came into limelight for her role in the film First Rank Raju (2015). The beautiful Kanishka started her career in the TV industry from quite a young age. In 2006, she participated in a kids’ talent-hunt show on Hungama TV titled John Aur Kaun, which gave a chance to the winner to act alongside John Abraham in a UTV film. The then 12 years old Kanishka managed to rise as one of the top 10 finalists. Her first step towards modelling was her participation in Miss Teen Diva 2010, a beauty pageant for teenage girls and emerged as one of the top 5 finalists. From 2011 to 2012, she was the Brand Ambassador of the Westside stores which turned her into a popular face. In 2013, she participated in WTN Miss Mangalore and grabbed the position of 1st Runner Up. On 30 May 2014, Kanishka was awarded Miss Beautiful Face in the fourth edition of Miss Queen of India, another prestigious beauty pageant, held at the Gokulam Park Inn Convention Centre in Kochi. She also featured in the Cosmo-Pantaloons 2014 Calendar after being selected as a Fresh Face during the contest. In 2015, she participated in the Miss Earth India and came up as one of the top 10 finalists. In 2015, Kanishka made her debut in acting in the Telegu movie Uppi 2, directed by Upendra Rao, starring himself, Kristina Akheeva and Parul Yadav as leads. Since, the film marked Upendra’s return after a long hiatus and the fact that it had a plethora of cast, where Kanishka did a less prominent role; Kanishka regrets that she got unnoticed in the movie at large. Her latest film, First Rank Raju, is a Kannada comedy-drama where she plays the role of a shy North Indian girl who comes to study in a college in South India and is not acquainted with the language. The movie was directed by Naresh Kumar HN and had Gurunandan and Apoorva Gowda as the main leads. It released on 27 November 2015 and was a great success in the Kannada film industry as well as in Kanishka’s career. Kanishka is now an active model doing various commercial shoots and walking down on ramps, her latest one being the Show Stopper for designer Michelle Salins in the Bangalore Fashion Week 2016.
