Charulatha's birth name is Sonia, which was given to her by her parents. The name 'Charulatha' was adopted by her after she entered the Kannada's industry. She was born on 27th April, but was raised in Kerala. She started her career as a model in 1997, for brands such as Malabar Jewelers, Ayodha Jewelers, Saree Kendra, Ujala, TriveniAgarbatti, Parthas Sarees, Roopam Sarees, Priyadarshi Tiles, PremearHawai, Ace Motors, Hero Honda, Colors slimming Center, and many more.
Charulatha made a debut in the Kannada industry by Naxalite in 2000. She is highly known for Naxalite(2002), Rani AurJaani(1973), her debut movie, and Marshal(2002).
