Chandan is a South Indian playback singer, rapper, lyricist, composer and music director. He is also known as Kannada Rapper Chandan Shetty. He was born on 17th September 1989 in Sakleshpur in the Hassan district of Karnataka. He has written lyrics for about 30 songs, sang more than 45 songs and worked as an assistant music director for about 40 Kannada movies.

Chandan Shekhar was the lyricist for many Kannada movies like Sweety in 2013, Goa in 2015, Chakravyuha in 2016, Jigarthanda in 2016, Mungaru Male 2 in 2016, Style King in 2016 and Jaguar in 2016. Chandan Shetty was the playback singer for more than 30 movies like Alemari in 2012, Varadhanayaka in 2013, Auto Raja in 2013, Bahaddur in 2014, Goa, Rocket in 2015, Dove in 2015, Chakravyuha in 2016, Badmaash in 2016 and the upcoming 2017 flick Drona. Chandan Shetty uploaded his first Kannada music video Nanna Preethi Sullala on Youtube on 20th July 2011. Chandan wrote the lyrics and composed the music for the Kannada Pop Song. He sang it with Lohith. Soloman programmed the animation for the video. Chandan Shetty is the music director of upcoming Kannada flick Seizer directed by Vinay Krishna. It is set to release on 19th May 2017.

He is also the music composer of Kirik Keerthi written and directed by Om Prakash Rao. It is set to release on 14th September 2017. Chandan Shetty uploaded his first Kannada rap music video HA LA GO DE on Youtube on 16th September 2015. He conceptualized, directed, wrote the lyrics, composed the music and sang the hip-hop song. Vikram Yoganand cinematographed, edited and coloured the video. Vikin did the VFX, Vijeth designed the sound and Sachin did the mixing. The rap video received almost 3 million views since release.

Chandan Shetty’s second Kannada rap music video 3 PEG was uploaded on Youtube on 13th May 2016. He conceptualized, directed, wrote screenplay and lyrics, designed art, composed music and sang for the EDM video. Vijeth played the music. The video featured Aindrita Ray. The video reached 3 million views immediately after release, now having more than 9 million views, thus making this EDM video the most watched Kannada music video.

Chandan Shetty’s next music video is expected to release on 5th April 2017. He directed, conceptualized, composed and played the music, wrote the lyrics and sang for the Kannada video. The music video will feature Neha Shetty.

Chandan Shetty is a music director chiefly working in Kannada movies. He is known for bringing the rap song culture in the state. Even though, he already achieved huge popularity and craze among audiences for Kannada Rap songs such as “3Peg” and “Halagode”, he continued his efforts through ‘Chocolate Girl’ and ‘‘Tequila’ which pleased his fans. Chandan Shetty was born on 17 September 1989, in Hassan district of Karnataka.  After completing his PUC at St. Philomena in Commerce at Puttur, Karnataka, he finished his Bachelor Degree at Vidya Vikas in BBM, Mysore. Later, he worked in a call center.

But he was not satisfied and inclined to join film industry somehow. As he got his first break in 2012, he never looked behind. Chandan Shetty had peachy collaboration with Arjun Janya with whom he worked as associate music director.

Chitnahalli Udayashankar, fondly known as Chi Udayashankar or Master Udayashankar (18 February 1934 - 3 July 1993) was a renowned lyricist, composer, dialogue writer, screenwriter and film director of the Kannada film industry. He was born in Holenarsipura in the Kingdom of Mysore, Karnataka, British India. He composed 3000+ songs for Kannada films along with numerous other devotional songs. He also wrote heaps of dialogues and tons of screenplays as well for the Kannada film industry. For three decades alongside Rajkumar, he made around 92 movies. Chi Udayashankar and his family were all well known within the Kannada film industry. He was the son of lyricist Chi. Sadashivaiah.Chi. Sadashivaiah was quite interested in theater, but it wasn’t earning him his livelihood. So he had to depend on his teaching career as a mathematics and Kannada teacher. Chi Udayashankar co-wrote dialogues, songs and lyrics along with his father, early in his career for many Kannada movies. His brother Chi Datturaj was also a director. Chi Udayashankar married Sharadamma, his wife and together they had three children, one of which was Chi. Guru Dutt. Chi. Guru Dutt grew up to be a reputed actor and director, known to have worked in more than 100 movies. Yet, he was versatile with Tamil as well as Kannada films, in the industry. Chi Udayashankar’s songs comprised of easily understood words that anyone could relate. He got the name ‘Sahitya Ratna’ for his work in writing songs. He first started off with acting, in the year 1959 with the movie ‘Mahishasura Mardini’. In the year 1963, Chi Udayashankar debuted as a writer by writing dialogues for the picture; ‘Santa Tukaram’ starring Rajkumar. He wrote a voluminous amount of dialogues and lyrics for 85 of Rajkumar’s movies. He worked alongside Rajkumar from 1963 to 1993, during these three decades they made 92 movies. After the death of Chi. Udayashankar, Rajkumar’s cinema output decreased a lot. With the picture ‘Shivarathri Mahatme’ in 1964, he started his work as a lyricist. He started off with screenwriting after writing the screenplay of ‘Mahasati Anasuya’ in 1965. He directed his first movie ‘Manku Dinne in 1968. He received several awards for Best Dialogue Writer and Best Screenplay.



Kaviraj is a Kannada poet, lyricist, director and writer. He is currently one of the top-rated lyricists in the Karnataka Film Industry. He started his journey as a songwriter in 2003 and has written over 1000 songs for various movies. His debut film was Kariya which was released in 2003. Since 2013, he has also been working on becoming a writer and film director. Allegedly, he has penned a story similar to the Amitabh Bachchan starring Bollywood hit Paa. The film will be called Bul Bul Mathadkilva. He has won many awards and accreditations for his work like the Suvarna Film Awards, Filmfare Awards, South Indian International Movie Awards, Mirchi Music Awards South, etc. He has won the Filmfare and Mirchi Music three times each respectively. His notable works as a lyricist in the Karnataka Cinema include Dashaguna, Cool and Happy, Sanju weds Geetha in 2011, Aptharakshaaka in 2010, among others. He debuted as a Film Director in 2016 with Maduveya Mamatherya Kareyole. He was born in Shivamoga, Karnataka and brought up in Thirthahalli. He claims that he started writing poems in his school days itself where writing was just a hobby but later became the reason for his fame and the earnings that came from his job as a writer. He adds that his keenness to read helped him develop and nurture his ideas in poems. He has one elder sister and a younger sister, namely Kavitha and Kalpana respectively. To pursue his ambition of becoming a songwriter, he came to Bangalore where he stayed with his relatives for a while. During this period of struggle, he also worked as a medical rep. He was staying in Vijayanagar in the city of Bangalore where he, fortunately, met music director Guru Kiran. Guru advised him to start penning the lyrics of the song “Nannalli Manadalli” which was his first song. This song also became the foundation of his fame in the industry.
