Suneel Puranik

Suneel Puranik is an Indian male, well-known Director. He is a very popular and amazing director working in the Kannada industry. He has worked in teleserials and movies as an actor but is now working as a director and a producer in the Kannada film and Television Industry. He is also the chairman of the Karnataka Chalanchitra Academy.

He was born on 19^th August 1965 and has been born and brought up in Dharwad. He currently resides in Bengaluru. He completed his education from the Junior Technical School, Hubli, and did his higher studies from the Karnataka High School, Dharwad. He did his diploma in Mechanical Engineering from K.H.K Institute, Dharwad. He got a professional degree in film making and did his training from the Adarsha Film Institute.

He started his career as an actor by working in teleserials. He did his debut in the serial ‘Venkataswami Pranya Prasangaglu that was directed by M.S. Satya. After that, he starts assisting in directing movies. The first movie he assisted was ‘Ranaranga’ with Somashekar.

In 2010, he directed his debut movie ‘Gurukula,’ which was about gurukuls in India and the education system back then in ancient times. He won the State award for Best Children movie. He became an honorable member of the Jury of the National Film Industry in 2016 and also became a member of the IIFA (International Film Festival of India) in 2018.

He got married in 1991 to Suhasini and has two sons Sagar Puranik and Sameer Puranik.

He has received many prestigious awards, such as Act Television Award, Aryabhata Award, Kempegowda Award, Indira Priyadarshini Award, Best Children Film Award, Communicator of the Year from Public Relations Council of India, Act Television Award, etc.
