Rajasulochana was a film actress and also a South Indian classical dancer. Pilliarchetty Bhakthavatsalam Naidu Rajeevalochana, her birth name, was born on the 15th of August in the year 1935 in Andhra Pradesh. Her dad, Bhakthavatsalam Naidu, worked in Indian railways. She was married to Tamil Actor Director C S Rao. They were blessed with twin daughters and a son. One of her daughter is notable dancer, lives in Chennai and the other daughter and son lives in the US. She passed away on 5th March 2013 in Chennai at the age of 77.
Lalithamma, Acharyulu, K N Dhandayuthapani Pillai, Krishnakumar, Vishnu Vysarkar, Vempati Chinna Satyam, and Kalamandalam Madhavan taught Rajasulochana the Indian classical dance forms. Later in 1961, Rajasulochana became the founder of, ‘Pushpanjali Nritya Kala Kendram’ in Chennai, which is still in the run. She has performed live dances in our country as well as abroad and has been acclaimed for that.
Rajasulochana made her debut in films by the Kannada film ‘Gunasagari’ released in 1953. H L N Simha, the Kannada stage and screen performer, gave her this opportunity in acting. After that, Rajasulochana did over 300 films in the Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi films. Some of her films are Asai, Chori, Sarangadhara, Piya Milan and Babruvahana.
