William David is a cinematographer of Indian origin. He was born in Sakleshpura in the state of Karnataka on June 26, 1985. He has experience of working in this industry since 1999. William began his career as an associate director of photography for commercials. He has extensive experience in the Hindi, Kannada, and other major regional film industries in India. He has worked on several movies, commercials for top labels of the country, and real time shows with prominent singers and filmmakers. William is renowned for his daring acrobatics behind the camera, and his skill of going to great lengths to capture the perfect shot as envisioned by the director. He often chooses challenging camera positions to achieve outstanding results while keeping his equipment safe. In 2008, William started his work in Kannada cinema as a cinematographer on the film Shivani, produced by Shivashankar.

He later worked on Minchu, a 2009 film directed by N Venugopal Nayak, which was a remake of the Tamil movie Thimiru (2006). Before his work in Kannada cinema, William had already worked on Hindi and Marathi films. William's most notable work is his collaboration with director Anup Bhandari on the 2015 film Rangitaranga where he served as the DOP. The film received high praise from audiences and critics alike, with praise for the film's screenplay and direction. Although, Rangitaranga was not nominated, it was included in the list of productions eligible for the 88th Academy Awards. The Times of India gave the film a rating of 3/5 and praised the background score by B Ajaneesh Lokanath and the cinematography by Lance Kaplan and William David. William and Lance were nominated for the Times KAFTA 2015 award for Best Cinematographer for their work on Rangitaranga.

After receiving recognition for Rangitaranga, William has continued to work as a cinematographer on various projects, including the Indian Kannada romantic comedy film Rajaratha. The film features a major supporting role by Tamil actor Arya in his Kannada film debut and was released in December 2017. William has also worked on the Kannada film Nanobne Ollevnu, which was released in the year 2017. His most recent project is the highly anticipated Indian Sandalwood film Vikrant Rona, an action-adventure, fantasy, and thriller, which is set to be released on July 24th, 2022.
