. Atre, and his mother is Smt. Jaya Atre.He is from Bhagamandala in Kodagu district of Karnataka. He graduated in mechanical engineering from Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering, Bengaluru. He was trained in acting under the guidance of Smt Gauri Dutta from Abhinaya Taranga, a school of acting in Bengaluru.
Dhananjay started his career in modeling from the Kingfisher Debry and later moved to films. In 2007, he debuted with a minor role in the Kannada film Budhivantha. Later, he did various films with character roles like Bombaat, Yodha, Devru, and Veerappan's Attahasa. He has also performed in the serials like Parineeta, Munjavua, and Chitralekha.In 2018, he got the lead role in the Kannada film Karshanam, directed by Sharavana. He has also produced this film with the home banner DJ Entertainment.
