Ashok Lokhande was born on July 13, 1950. He completed his education in the National School of Drama in
New Delhi, India. He is an active actor since 1990, when he played the role of Ashwadhyaksha Purushdutt in the TV series Chanakya. His next acting engagement was in 1991 in the serial Mriganayani. He was professionally engaged in two films, Khamoshi: The Musical from 1996 and Sarfarosh from 1999.

Just Mohabbat in 1997, Saans in 1999, Jo Kahunga SachKahunga where he played the role of Fateh Singh, but his most significant role is the role of Arun Rathi (Babasa) in the very popular Indian television soap opera Diya Aur Baati Hum.
Even though his desire was to be professionally engaged in movies, his performances in the TV serials have given him great popularity among the TV audience. In 2013 he was nominated for Favourite Pita award and won the Favourite Sasur award in STAR Parivaar Awards - a platform on Star Plus that promotes their own TV shows, actors, producers, directors and production houses.
