Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul was born on 1 January 1956 in Dhaka. He was a Bangladeshi lyricist, composer, and music director during the 1970s. He did his schooling from West End High School in Azimpur, Dhaka. He was also a freedom fighter and had joined the Bangladesh Liberation War at the age of 15. During his struggle, he was even arrested a few times. Bulbul composed music for more than 350 movies. Bulbul's compositions include many works for films, the first was 1978's Megh Bijli Badol. Others include Je Prem Shorgo Theke Ashe, Porena Chokher Polok Ki, Ei Buke Boichhe Jamuna, Tumi Sutoi Bedhechho Shapla, Amar Hridoy Ekta Ayna Ei, Bidi Tumi Bole Daw Ami Kar, Oi Chad Mukhe Jeno Lagena, Amar Sara Deho Kheyore, Ami Tomari Premo Bhikhari, Prithibir Joto Shukh Ami, Tumi Mor Jiboner Vabona, Onek Shadhonar Pore Ami and Premo Ronge Rangiyechi Mon.
He was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2010 and Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Director two times for the movies Premer Taj Mahal (2001) and Hajar Bachhor Dhore (2005). His famous patriotic songs such as O Majhi Nao Chhaira De, Shob Kota Janala, Shei Rail Line-er Dhare, Shundor Suborno, Mago Ar Tomake Ghum Parani Mashi Hote Debona and Ektara Lagena Amar, are still in the heart of the people of Bangladesh. He also composed independent albums and worked with many Bangladeshi performers, like Samina Chowdhury Samina Chowdhury is a famous singer and song write >> Read More... and Andrew Kishore. Also, he was judge on the talent show Closeup 1 Tomakei Khujchhe Bangladesh for three seasons. Bulbul lost his life at the age of 63 to cardiac arrest on 22 January 2019. Today he is known for the emotions portrayed in his music, specifically in his patriotic songs.
