Padma Wadkar

A classical singer and a mother of two, Padma Wadkar started taking music lessons right since the age of eight. Ever since she was a teenager, she started teaching music to others. She is also a music teacher and the vice principal of the Ajivasan academy. Although she is yet to make her cut in Bollywood playback singing, Padma is content with her career as it is. She enjoys teaching children and spreading her passion for music. In her opinion, it is not necessary for aspiring playback singers today to take up music lessons.

She dreams of creating a platform for singers beyond Bollywood. She had been recording with Shreyas, who was her student at Suresh Wadkar Ajivasan Music Academy, but had been reluctant to make an album of all those songs.

Finally, she gave into the idea, and Morey Piya received a better response than she anticipated. The songs in her album are all love songs, adhering to people of all ages. Padma has also been a faculty member of the television show Fame Gurukul.

Both her daughters are as into music as their parents and hope to make it big in the industry. While her album received an overwhelming response from the audience, she is still undecided about entering mainstream playback singing and chose not to comment on her plans about it in an interview.

Padma is also a founder and director at Ajivasan Academy of Performing Arts. She also conducted a vocal master class at Sydney, Australia on 4 August 2023. Her latest songs are “Tumul Kolahal,” “Na Jao Piya,” “Om Jai Shiv Omkara,” “Jay Ambe Gauri,” “Gajamukha,” “Aigiri Nandini.”
