In the year 2017, Ram Nath Kovind was elected as 14th President of India. Before becoming the president, he was the governor of Bihar from the year 2015 to the year 2017. He even was a member of Parliament from the year 1994 to 2006. He was then nominated for the presidential post by the NDA.

Ram NathKovind was born on 1st October in the year 1945, in the Paraukh Village of the Kanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, to Maikulal, who belongs to the Kori community. He has five brothers, and two sisters, and he the youngest of them. Kovind had a very struggling school life ashis mother died when he was five. He later went ahead and got a degree in commerce and law (LLB) from DAV College in Kanpur.

After completing his law degree, Kovind decided to appear for the Civil services exam. He cleared it in his third attempt but later gave it up due to an average score, and went back to practicing law. Ram Nath Kovind matriculated as an advocate with the bar council of Delhi in the year 1971, and worked as the Central Government Advocate in the Delhi High Court till the year 1979.

He even served as a personal assistant to Prime Minister Morarji Desai in 1977 to 1978. From the year 1980 to 1993 he performed his duties as the standing counsel in the Supreme Court of India. He even served as the lawyer for the weaker sections of the society by rendering his services at minimal to no cost for them. In the year 199,1 Kovind joined the Bhartiya Janta Party, and later in the year 1998, was elected as the president of the BJP Dalit Morcha.

Further, in the year 2002, he was appointed as the President of All-India Koli Samaj. After this Kovind tried to get party tickets in Uttar Pradesh but failed. Finally, in the year 2015, he was appointed as the Governor of Bihar by the president of India. He sat on the on this position as the governor of Bihar till he was finally nominated for the presidency of the year 2017.
