Hindi Politician Aziz Qureshi

Aziz Qureshi is a politician and a senior Indian at the National Congress leader of mixed Arab-Pathan Muslim ethnoreligious and Urdu-speaking linguistic background from Bhopal. Aziz Qureshi was born on April 24, 1941, in Bhopal, India. He completed his Master of Arts and L. L. B. at the Government Hamida College, Bhopal. He was a lawyer, too. Aziz was the 15th governor of Mizoram from January to March 2015. He also served as the governor of Uttarakhand from 2012 to 2015, and he was appointed Governor of Uttarakhand (Additional charge) for a month in 2014. Later, Aziz was appointed chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy on January 24, 2020, by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, after he left the state governorships post. He was the Congress president among one hundred Congress workers selected by the Late Mrs. Indira Gandhi. Aziz was a secretary for the transport and reception committee of All India Congress Seva Dal Rally, Bhopal in 1959 and a founder vice chairman of National Council (Promotion of Urdu Language).

He was also a vice chairman of All India Taraqqi-e- Urdu board and a general secretary of Friends and Soviet Union, Madhya Pradesh Branch. Aziz was a head of the Department of Political Science for nine years and a principal of Aurobindo Arts and Law College, Bhopal for one year. He was a cabinet minister in Madhya Pradesh in 1973, and he was elected to Lok Sabha from Satna (Madhya Pradesh) constituency for a term until 1989. He was imprisoned in February 1978 for taking part in the official party movement against Janata Party rule and for organizing a demonstration against the arrest of the late Shrimati Indira Gandhi. He died on March 1, 2024, at a hospital in Bhopal after a prolonged illness, at that time he was 84.
