Arun Shourie is an Indian politician. He was born on 2nd November 1941, in Jalandhar, Punjab. Shourie completed his school from Modern School, Barakhamba, and got his graduation from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University in Economics. He also get his doctorate in Economics from Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. Arun is a multi-talented economist, journalist, and author and worked as an economist with the World Bank. He was in the Minister of Communication and Information Technology and editor in Times of India and Indian Express. In 1990, he awarded Padma Bhushan, and in 1982, he awarded Ramon Magsaysay Award.
Some of the popular books he was the author are Indian Controversies: Essay on Religion in Politics, Missionaries in India: continuities, change, dilemma, Symptoms of Fascism, Institutions in the Janata Phase, and many others. He also pledged the amount of 12 crores in 2000 to set up of Bio-Sciences and Bio-Engineering Departments in the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, under Member of Parliament Local Area Development Schemes.
