Born on 24th January, 1981, Riya did her schooling from Rani Birla Girl’s College and after graduation, enrolled in Fashion designing at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi. She first starred in a music video at the age of sixteen. Her performance in “YaadPiya Ki AaneLagi” pulled attention to her. The music video encouraged Riya to model and soon gained popularity. She moved to Mumbai from Kolkata after her career made progress. She also posted for several Magazine Covers such as Elaan, Man’s World and Maxim. In 2004, Riya posed seminude for Dabboo Ratnani’s Calendar, and got significant response to it.
Along with fashion shows, Riya Sen participated in advertisements and commercials for brands such as Nirma, Dairy Milk and Colgate.
She started her acting career as a child in “Vishkanya” in 1991. Eight years later, she starred in “Taj Mahal”, a Tamil Production. Her official Bollywood debut was supped to be the movie “Love You Hamesha” which got delayed. She gave another hit in 2003. “JhankaarBeats” was a Hingligh film, made in Hindi and English.
After movies like “Style” and “Jhankaar Beats”, Riya’s movies produced less revenue. She usually starred in small cameos or small item numbers. Most fo the film where she played the lead role were low budget movies.
Besides Bollywod, Riya has also done movies in Bengali, Malayalam and Telugu. Her first English movie was “It Was Raining That night”. The film was a remake of a Bengali film. She starred alongside her mother.
