Dia Mirza’s original name is Dia Handrich. Dia Mirza is an actress from India, and also a Model and Director cum Producer (recently). She was born in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh (Telangana). Her father Frank Handrich, a German interior designer and mother Deepa, a Bengali Hindu interior designer. She completed her schooling from Vidyaranya High School for Boys and Girls (based on the teachings of philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti) and Nasr School. Both the schools have located in Hyderabad. She also attended Stanley Junior College, Hyderabad, and got the bachelor’s degree in arts from Andhra Pradesh Open University. At the age of nine, her father died. Then, her mother got married to Ahmed Mirza. Later, she adopted her last step-father name as her last name.
At the age of sixteen, she started working as a marketing executive in a multi-media firm called Dr. Neeraj's Multi-media studio. Simultaneously, she was working as a model for prints and advertisements campaigns of various brands such as Lipton, Emmai and many more. When she won the title of Femina
Miss India (2000) 2nd runner-up, Miss Asia Pacific (2000) in Manila and Philippines and became the first Indian to win this title at the age of twenty-nine. Then she became destined to take her life towards acting and modeling. This award-winning lead her to have an offer of acting in a movie. Her debut film ‘Rehena Hai Tere Dil Mein’ got released in 2001, co-starring R. Madhavan. She also got a lead role in this movie.
