Navneet Virk

Navneet Virk is a popular song lyricist and music director based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She has worked in the Bollywood entertainment industry and her songs have been released in Hindi language movies. She has grown up listening to classical music, Melodies from Hindi cinema as well as Shers from Ghazal. When she was just 10 years old, she started writing poetry and short stories.

But the reason She developed an interest in lyric writing is because she found songs and music a crucial part of Bollywood and our lives. She grew up listening to old songs that her parents and grandparents used to listen to. She’s now the Senior Vice President and Executive Creative Director at India’s iconic advertising agency, ‘R K Swamy BBDO.’ 

Navneet is particularly known for collaborating with the global musical sensation Mr. A.R Rahman in a number of movies, such as 99 Songs (2019) and Ok Jaanu OK Jaanu is a romantic serial in the Telugu langua >> Read More... (2017). Interestingly, the Academy Award winner, Mr. Rahman wrote his first jingle (for Alwyn’s trendy watches) which was actually for Navneet’s R K Swamy BBDO. This commonality made it easier for the two to collaborate and write songs.

She wrote many songs for the movie 99 songs, such as “O Aashiqa,” “ Sofia A chilling show, Sofia is an Indian supernatural s >> Read More... ,” “Teri Nazar,’’ “O Mera Chand,’’ “Soja Soja,’’ “Gori Godh Bhari,’’ “Jwalamukhi,’’ among many others. The movie won the Best Background Score at the Filmfare Awards (2019). Besides, Navneet also worked in the Music department and wrote songs for the movie Ok Jaanu, directed by Shaad Ali. In her career, Navneet has learned that a lyricist must pay attention to the situation and the character for whom the song is being written. This strategy helps as a guiding light to write the lyrics.
