Sushil Datta

Sushil Datta is a popular director and writer born on 4^th February 1959 in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. Sushil has worked in the TV and movie industries. Sushil’s father was an Indian Air Force officer. So, they had to move to various places due to his father’s job. He met various people from different cultural backgrounds and developed some interest in theater. Sushil is a Postgraduate in Journalism. Later, he joined AJK Mass Communication Research Centre at Jamia Millia Islamia. He was much closer to AJK’s Anwar Jamal Kidwai during his PG course. Being a bright student in AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, he was awarded a scholarship, INLAKS for Studies in Media in India.

He started directing and playing in theater plays under small banners. After playing in Deepshikha, a play by Revti Sharan, he decided to follow his passion. Sushil learned filmmaking and TV skills from James Beveridge, a documentary filmmaker, and Michael Kennedy, an award-winning director. He got three documentary projects from the Government of Madhya Pradesh while studying at AJK Mass Communication Research Centre. It was based on social issues.
