Mike Pandey

Mike Pandey is an Indian Film-maker. He was born in Kenya. He specializes in filming wildlife and the environment. His interest in cameras developed at seven when his uncle bought a Kodak Browning Box Camera on his birthday. He and his brother Ishwar are educated in the USA and the UK. In 1973, he developed a Riverbank Studio, a film studio in New Delhi. This studio focused on creating films based on wildlife and the environment. Mike has won over 300 awards for spreading awareness about biodiversity, conservation of species. In 1994, he became the first Asian producer/director to win the Wildscreen Panda Award, also known as the Green Oscar, for his film The Last Migration. In 2000, his film Shore of Silence: Whale Sharks in India won the green Oscar for the second time in history. This film has also won a National Award for Best Film in the “Exploration and Adventure” category in 2005.

In 2004 he again won Green Oscar and made India proud for his film Vanishing Giants.
