Sriram Raghavan is an estimable film director and screenplay writer in Indian film industry. He came into fame from his latest thriller movie ‘ Badlapur’ starring Varun Dhawan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Huma Qureshi, Yami Gautam. This movie was both critically acclaimed and accepted by the audience. It made the director marked the first success of his career. His birth place is Chennai, and he comes from a simple family. His father was botanist and mother being the movie lover. Later on, his family moved to Pune. His cliché and pull toward film industry led him to join FTII, Pune. Before joining FTII, he worked with stardust and left the position soon Rajkumar Hirani, a famous director, known for his films like ‘3idiots’ and ‘Munna Bhai’ series is said to be the directors classmate during his FTII course.

Rajkumar Hirani edited his film for diploma called ‘The Eight Column Affair’, this bagged him the National award in 1989. The director did not stop here. This was just the beginning for him. His well-known 45mins documentary on Indian serial killer Raman Raghav was appreciated by most hard critics of the industry. The documentary made Ram Gopal Verma, Indian director, and producer, notice him. In collaboration with Ram Gopal Verma, he made a venture called ‘Ek haseena thi’. This cast Saif Ali Khan and Urmila Matondkar in lead roles. This was his first feature film, and he made himself notice incredibly. Though the movie did not go great on box office, it was sure a unique piece of work of its kind. Later he made no movie until some years. In 2007, ‘Johnny gaddar’ is what he had to present before audiences with debutant Neil Nitin Mukesh as a lead actor.

Sriram’s direction and Neil’s performance were acclaimed a lot in the movie. This movie turned out to be a box office success. Neil got a head start with the movie and proved helpful for his career. Later after this movie this director shook hands With Saif Ali Khan for ‘ Agent Vinod’, which was a thriller based on a spy’s life. The movie was produced by the lead actor himself. This movie failed to mark its presence in box office and nor even got appreciable comments from critics. In 2015, the director again gasped with his excellent story and nail-biting thriller ‘Badlapur’. This indeed was a great movie of the year. It bagged much appreciation and was applauded from industry. This movie went very well on box office also. The Producers Of ‘Agent Vinod’ also signed the talented director for one more movie based on a novel and looking forward to the start of the project.

Subhash Ghai

Subhash Ghai is an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter and producer in the Bollywood film industry. He was born on 24th January 1945 to a family of Punjabis in Nagpur, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. He completed his Higher Secondary education in Delhi and also graduated with a commerce degree from Rohtak, in the state of Haryana. In the year 1963, he joined the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) by moving to Pune, Maharashtra. He got married in 1970 to Mukta Ghai. He stays with his wife and two daughters Muskaan Ghai and Meghna Ghai Puri in Mumbai. Ghai’s Hindi cinema career started with minor roles in movies such as ‘Taqdeer (1967)’ and also ‘Aradhana’ in 1971. He played major roles in the films ‘Umang (1970)’ as well as in ‘Gumraah (1976)’ with Reena Roy and Danny. He took on the role of director with a little help from Shatrughan Sinha in 1975 and directed the film ‘Kalicharan’ which had become a blockbuster. In 2004, Ghai stepped down from the role of directing and started producing films. Some of them being, ‘Iqbal’ released in 2005, ‘36 China Town’ and ‘Apna Sapna Money Money', both which came out in the year 2006. He established his film institute named Whistling Woods International in the year 2006 in Mumbai. The Institute specializes in training students in filmmaking, cinematography, direction and acting. He has received various National Film Awards. His film ‘Iqbal’ won The National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues. The Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay in 1998 went to Pardes. Ghai was the recipient of the Filmfare Award for Contribution to Indian Cinema in 2015. Mukta Arts, the production house was founded by Subhash Ghai on 24th October 1978. The production banner named after his wife Mukta completed 37 years of production in 2015. "Karz" was the first film produced by Mukta Arts starring Rishi Kapoor. Other famous films that came out of the production house include "Hero", "Karma", "Khalnayak", "Pardes" and "Taal".
