Rajkumar Hirani is one of the ace director, screenwriter, producer in the contemporary Bollywood. He is one of the directors who distinctively portrays the reality of the society with a touch of sarcasm and humor. He was born and brought up in Nagpur, Maharashtra and did his graduation in Commerce since because his dad wanted him to be a charted accountant. But he was more interested in filmmaking. His life took a significant turn when he joined Film And Television Institute of India, in Pune where he joined an editing course.

His early years were quite tough as he was not getting any major breakthroughs in the Bollywood which made him switch to the ad filmmaking and one of the famous advertisement he made was of ‘Fevicol” with a tag line of “Zor Lagake Haisha”, in which he was featured as well. Then, in the year 1998 he edited promos for the movie “Kareeb”, and later on, in 2000, he got a considerable opportunity as an editor for the movie “Mission Kashmir’. After three years, in the year 2003, he came up with an exemplary movie “Munna Bhai M.B.B.S”, which was his directorial debut and was one of the major hit of that year and also won the National Award for the best popular film. This film also won Film Fare award for best screenplay, dialogues, editing and critics choice award for best movie, this film made him a big name in the Bollywood, and started being recognized as one of the talented directors of Bollywood.

In 2005 he became the creative producer for the film, “ Parineeta Click to look into! >> Read More... ”, then in 2006 he came up with the sequel of his first major successful film Munna Bhai as “Lagey Raho Munnabhai”. This movie brought the whole new idea of patriotism called “Gandhi Giri.” This movie not just won the heart of the audience but also made him won the IIFA Award for the best director. This movie not just remained as cult classic, but is still loved by the youngsters. In the year 2014, he again collaborated with Amir Khan and Vidhu Vinod Chopra for the movie “PK”, which broke all the past box office records and was both critically and commercially acclaimed, and it was not only appreciated by the Indian audience but also became the highest Indian grossing film in China. In 2016, he is coming with the film “Sala Khadoos”, starring R. Madhavan as a sole producer.

Nagesh Kukunoor was born in Hyderabad to Kusuma Sudarshan and KS Naidu. He completed his high school education at Montfort School, Yercaud. He has a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad and a master’s degree in the same field from Georgia Institute of Technology. After this, he started working at Trinity Consultants in Texas and then Atlanta as an Environmental Consultant. During this period, he attended various workshops in the film. Later, at Warehouse Actor’s Theater in Atlanta he studied acting and direction. He stepped into the film industry in the year 1995, with a short film, One Culture At a Time of which he was the director, producer, and screenwriter. His next movie, Hyderabad Blues in the year 1998 saw him stepping into the shoes of an actor as well. It was his Debut Feature Film and won Audience Award for best film at the Peachtree Village International Film Festival in Atlanta as well as Rhode Island Film Festival. The movie was shot in seventeen days and had a budget of Rs. 1.7 million. He did Rockford next which was an English film. He did a big budget film 3 Deewarein, in the year 2003. Established actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Juhi Chawla, and Jackie Shroff acted in the movie. This movie won the Filmfare award for best story in 2004. In the year 2006, he made a remake of a Malayalam movie Perumazhakkalam as a Hindi movie Dor, which starred Ayesha Takia, Gul Panag, and Shreyas Talpade as lead actors. He played the role of a businessman in this movie. Critics appreciated the movie. The film that won Nagesh a lot of critical acclaim as a director is Iqbal. It was written by Vipul K Rawal. It also won the National Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues in the year 2006. Lakshmi, which again saw him in the role of actor, director, producer and screen writer, won the Mercedes-Benz Audience Award, for Best Narrative at Palm Springs International Film Festival in 2014. His latest film Dhanak won the Grand Prix of the Generation Kplus International Jury for the best feature-length film. The movie has a special mention by Children’s Jury in Generation Kplus section.

Saawan Kumar Tak is a movie director, screenwriter, producer, and lyricist. Saawan Kumar produced and directed many movies. He began his career as the producer. In 1967, he produced Sanjeev Kumar starrer film Naunihal. This talkie received the presidential mention at the National Awards. Saawan Kumar is a great lyricist and has written the songs for most of his films. His directional debut was the film Gomti Ke Kinare (1972). Gomti Ke Kinare is the last movie of Meena Kumari. He also directed many films and gave a break to many actors. Saawan Kumar Tak is the former husband of music director Usha Khanna. In 1967, Saawan Kumar Tak came back to Mumbai and became an actor. He tried at two to three studio, but he didn’t get the break. After that, he decided to start from the top, as a producer in the film industry. He requested his sister to lend 25,000 rupees to produce a movie. His sister refused, but his brother in law agreed. And he produced Naunihal. This film didn't prove to be a commercially successful but got the presidential mention at the National Awards. With this, he gave a break to Sanjeev Kumar. He saw him at a theater production where he was filling in for an established actor. Saawan Kumar impressed by his performance and promised him to give him a role in his first film. For Gomti Ki Kinare he signed Meena Kumari, but after six days of shooting, she fell seriously sick. The shooting stopped, but Meena Kumari wanted this is to be her last movie. Somebody had to hold her all the time. Somehow they completed the film but it was a forced effort, and it showed in the final print. His life changed with Hamas, which was a bold venture and did great business at the box office. Saawan Kumar Tak did many of the movies. His famous movies are Humrahi (1974), Saajan Bina Suhagan (1978), Pyar Ki Jeet (1987), Souten Ki Beti (1990), Sanam Bewafa (1991), Kaho Naa Pyar Hai (2000), Dil Pardesi Ho Gayaa (2003), etc.
