Elinor Donahue

Elinor Donahue is a famous American actress and singer entertaining audiences since six decades. She is the eldest daughter of her parents, Thomas Donahue and Doris Genevieve. She was born in the year 1937 in Washington, United States. She started her career at the age of five. She got a major break in her career when she turned a teenager and begged a role in "Father knows best”. Her role as Betty in the series led her to stardom.

In the series, the main protagonist played by Robert Young is known to be her mentor. The series continued for six seasons from 1954-60. During the series, she was also one of the judges for the musical show, "ABC's musical jukebox" for the year 1953-54. She also starred in many TV shows like Crossroads, U.S. Marshalls and The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show. She is known for her versatility for adopting different varieties of roles throughout her acting career. She played a role of clothing store manager in "Pretty Woman" alongside Julia Roberts which was much appreciated. Elinor married her first husband Richard Smith after dating him for one year but divorced him after six years of marriage. The couple had a child together, Brian Smith.

In 1962, she married producer of CBS, Harry Ackerman, who was 24 years older than her. The couple has three children, Christopher, Peter and James Ackerman. They were married for nearly thirty years. However, Harry Ackerman died in 1991. Later, she married Lou Genevrino after one year of her former husband's death. Elinor had been nominated for Emmy award in Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in the year 1959. She got awarded with TV Land Legend Award in The Andy Griffith show in 2004.
