Sinead O Connor whose other names are Magda Davitt and Sinéad Marie Bernadette O'Connor, is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter of Irish descent. She took birth in Glenageary, County Dublin, Ireland on December 8, 1966.

Her parents Sean O'Connor and Marie O'Connor named her after Sinéad de Valera Ireland's president Éamon de Valera's wife. Her daughter presided over her delivery. Sean was a structural engineer first but later became a barrister and headed the Divorce Action Group.

Sinead has five siblings. When she turned eight her guardian separated due to unresolvable issues. Sinead mother got her custody and she would physically abuse her. Her father tried to gain her custody but the law was against him.

In 1979, she left Marie and went to stay with Sean. However she had to go to Magdalene Asylum for nearly a year due to her shoplifting habits. Sinead took to music there. A volunteer happened to listen to her sing and recorded her.

It gave her a confidence boost. Sean then sent Sinead to Newtown School where she recorded five of her songs two of them even became a part of her first album. In 1964 she met Colm Farrelly and they formed a band named Ton Ton Macoute and recruited some talented members. They started to perform in different cities.
