Harikumar Pillai is a Bengali sound designer and production sound mixer at QED film. He completed his primary education at Patha Bhavan, Kolkata. Then, he completed his matriculation at Patha Bhavan, Kolkata in 1982. He was active in the activities like sports, debates, trekking, quiz, and poetry sessions. Later on, he went to the Birla Institute of technology and Science, Calcutta University, to pursue Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. After that, he took Masters in Cinema with specialisation in Sound Recording Sound Engineering (SRSE) at prestigious Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. He is fluent in the Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Marathi, Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali, and English languages. He has been living in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.

Harikumar Pillai went to St. Joseph’s College of Communication, Changanassery to taught film and television as a guest lecturer from Jul 2007 to Sep 2007. He especially taught the use, art and the appreciation of sound as a creative tool in films, commercials, web, television, and documentaries to graduate and post-graduate students. He worked in the film “11 weeks,” a USC graduate film directed by Dipesh Jain shot in Srinagar and Gulmarg. This is a story based on a Kashmir. Then, he engaged in the film “The Road Home a Graduate film,” directed by Rahul Gandotra. The film was selected for student Oscar 2010. He was a production sound mixer on the feature film “Heartland,” directed by Fred Holmes shot in Ludhiana in May – June 2009.

In 2010, he works on a documentary on Ayurveda shot at Somatheeram, Kerala for Zonsta Creation. From Aug 2008- Aug 2010, he worked as a production sound mixer & sound designer at Aamir Khan Productions for the feature film PEEPLI LIVE. In 2012, Harikumar Pillai worked as a sound designer on Hindi feature film produced by Twilight Entertainment, and then worked for the Bengali feature film under construction, shot entirely in Bangladesh & Dhaka, directed by Rubaiyat Hossain Bio coming soon... >> Read More... in 2013.
