Sumanta Das is a Bengali singer. He hails from Shantiniketan, the hub of art in West Bengal. He studied at the University of Burdwan and the Visva Bharati University. Sumanta follows traditional music and likes to maintain his cultural roots. He plays the Dotara (a traditional string instrument) and Khamak (a traditional percussive instrument) and sings wholeheartedly. He has performed in many music festivals around the country. Sumanta also had the privilege of performing in Colors of Ostrava, the most prominent international music festival held in Czechia. Sumanta Das is considered one of the best Bengali Baul performers of his generation. He often performs with his partner Pratima Das Baul and their little son Praban Das. Even though he is too young to perform, Praban Das frequently leads some of the music performances of his father in the shows. Sung with pure devotion, Sumanta's famous songs include Deen Ki Daya, Horigun Gao Re Pagla, Banomali Tumi, and Aaul Jhaul. Hearing his songs is bliss to one's ears.
